Giving Tuesday 2024

|

Community,

We want to start off by thanking our community for all their generosity and support this last year. Through the ups and downs, it has been our clients and supporters who have kept DaL going and reinforced our dedication to providing compassionate and holistic prenatal care, women’s health services and a safe alternative to hospital birth for birthing people/women and their families. DaL has been serving this state for nearly 14 years and is the only fully licensed and accredited birth center in NM. We have joyfully attended over 1600 births and have cared for nearly 4000 families. We love our community and are committed to finding creative solutions to ensure DaL can truly thrive.

We can’t do this important work without the generosity of donors and community members like you who care about expanding access to midwifery care and closing the gap in maternal health care in NM.

  • Every year more labor and delivery units in smaller hospitals shut down across the nation.
  • Severe maternity care provider shortages have resulted in “maternal health deserts”.
  • Six hospitals in NM alone have closed their maternity units in the last decade.
  • US maternal death rates have soared above any other industrialized nation where midwifery care is often the standard of care.

GivingTuesday is the biggest day in philanthropy and we are honored and grateful for every single person who chooses to support DaL today. We have already reached 15% of our $15,000 goal – will you help us get to 100% to support NM children and families?

Each donation today will allow Dar a Luz to:

  • Hire new clinical staff to better support our clients
  • Diversify our services, including limited ultrasound
  • Purchase our property for expansion
  • Offer more community support groups
  • Provide new class options and topics
  • Support professional development opportunities for staff
  • Reach 2000 babies and more born at DaL
  • Support over 5000 New Mexican families
  • Stay open for many more years to come

Thank you for all you have done over the past 13 years to make Dar a Luz what it is today. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to care for you and for giving generously in the past in many ways. We believe that Dar a Luz offers incredibly important maternal, newborn, and gynecology services to Albuquerque and its surrounding communities. We believe in delivering integrated care to birthing people and their babies. And we’re ready to continue providing these essential services in New Mexico for many more years.

All our gratitude,

The Dar a Luz team
