Sensitive and mindful care for teens in navigating puberty, menstruation, and sexual health
Teen Care
We acknowledge that a young person’s first gynecology visit can be uncertain or difficult to navigate emotionally and physically. Each visit will include motivational interviewing, addressing the teen’s concerns, and anticipatory guidance. Most visits do not require a speculum or internal exam unless medically indicated. If recommended, the provider will ensure informed consent, talk through the steps of the process, and offer a chaperone to be present in the room. Initiation of a Pap smear is no longer recommended until age 21. Our goal is to set the standard for how women’s healthcare should be throughout the lifespan.
